Eddi Front is the alter-ego of Brooklyn’s Ivana Carrescia. She’s on the verge of releasing her debut LP, “Marina”, and I’ve been listening to it a lot this week.
In a way, these songs are introverts. They’re not looking to be the centre of attention at a party, and they’re not made to be blasted out whilst driving. I imagine them physically recoiling with horror at the mere suggestion. Much better to listen to them quietly in your own space and time, with no other distractions.
With each exhalation, the sweet yet eerie vocals form a musical icicle – I have shivers going up and down my spine. The piano playing is stunningly dark, adding to the haunting atmosphere as a whole.
I can’t add any more – listen for yourselves, and make sure you give the album the one to one respect they deserve.
