The Chase, who come from Southsea, Portsmouth, have an abundance of catchy, wholly inoffensive tunes which are a cross between the styles of Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene and Jake Bugg – this is a pretty mellow indie/mod band.
For me, after reading rave reviews of The Chase, I was hoping for something a bit punchier, a bit more inyerface, as it were. Their music feels a tad generic, a little bit like it’s already been done. I don’t dislike it at all, I just don’t love it.
Mind you, with three albums under their belt already, The Chase have achieved relative success and become noticed by popular venues and music supporters such as The 100 Club, Fiddlers Elbow in London and Pretty Green. All those top people, along with an ever-growing fan base can’t be wrong, surely!
The Chase have got a couple of great gigs coming up on Saturday 8th March in that there London. They’ll be doing an in store gig at Pretty Green, Covent Garden, and giving away an exclusive acoustic EP at the same venue. Later that day, they’re performing at March of the Mods at The Fiddlers Elbow, London – a busy day at two ace venues which will no doubt attract exactly the kind of people who are into their kind of music.
